Ogie’s Trailer Park

Moonie and I celebrated our friend Neal’s birthday at Ogie’s Trailer Park the other night. Moonie was quite taken with the patio decor, especially the lit-up palm tree and flamingo.

But that paled in comparison to his infatuation with the food. He was crawling all over our friends’ meals, stealing tater tots and bites of sandwiches and wurst, so he finally got his very own basket of macaroni and cheese croquettes.

He was quite happy after that.

Moonie’s Stage Debut

Moonie and I headed back to The Mediator Stage this week to catch the feature act, We Were Strangers. Even with a percussionist, though, it turned out they needed Moonie’s help. Would he mind playing a little conga?

Conga

It turned out he didn’t mind at all. He ran right up on stage and stayed throughout their set, which was comprised of lovely music like the song “Lay on Down”.

Milanos

I was home sick the other day, which meant Moonie was home, too.
I kept wondering what that rustling sound was deep in the pantry.
Turns out I totally forgot I had an old bag of Pepperidge Farm cookies back there.

Guess who found them?

He also discovered that the paper sleeves holding the cookies each made a nice little Moonie cave.

He’s asking if we can hook up cable in there.

Puzzle

At some point I ended up with one of those trick puzzles where everything looks alike. In this case, it was a field of baked beans.

It really was hard, and I’m grateful that it was only 100 pieces, as a 1,000-piece puzzle would have been a killer. Frankly, I was overjoyed when Moonie proudly put the 100th and final piece in place.

Mostly so he’d stop singing the “beans, beans, good for your heart” song over and over.

Lippitt House

The nice folks at Governor Henry Lippitt House Museum were kind enough to give an evening tour to members of the Providence Athenaeum’s Contemporaries group.

Moonie “oohed” and “aahed” from the moment he stepped inside. Just this foyer is amazing, with the walls and ceilings hand-painted with faux marble and wood finishes.

Lippitt

Henry Lippitt, who served as governor of RI in the 1870s, had constructed the house for his wife and six kids. The details are wonderful, with elaborate patterns painted in each room.

India

A few weeks ago, Moonie and I got takeout at an Indian restaurant.

Moonie immediately ran over to the little chest of fennel seeds, and while the staff put together our food, I had to keep an eye on him so he wouldn’t pick out all the little candy-coated licorice pieces.

He wanted the pink ones.

Doughnuts

I drove by a local doughnut shop in Cranston yesterday morning and decided on a whim to pick up a dozen to bring into the office.

My co-workers were half-grateful and half-resentful.

Moonie was entirely grateful.
