Moonie’s friend MDB (“Emmm Deee Beee!” he shouted happily, recognizing the initials) had a birthday recently. Like a true music lover, he used that as an excuse to host a songwriter in the round with two of his talented friends, Abbie Gardner and Jesse Terry.
And, like a true music lover, Moonie bought us tickets to the show, with his spiky pink head as close to the stage as he could get.
He spent most of the show with his friends Mary and Kamilla, dancing away in Mary’s pocket while she tried to get used to his tickly little toes (it does take time). From her shirtfront he enjoyed a good view of the stage, where the performers seemed to be having as great a time as Moonie and his friends. MDB, Abbie and Jesse, respectively playing guitar, dobro/ukelele, and guitar, were joined by Moonie’s pal John Juxo on accordion and piano as well as by Chris Berardo on tambourine/vocals and Josh White on guitar.
The result was a whole lot of talent and a whole lot of joy.
